| Judi Lynn Altstatt, though born in Texas, is a true native of Northern Arkansas. Her Ozark heritage exposed her to the enriching folk and church traditions of that area. She studied piano as a child, played clarinet in the high school band, and inspired her father to build her first dulcimer. She earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Central Arkansas and continued her training by completing a Master's degree in Clarinet Performance at the University of Iowa. Currently, she teaches band for the Allen ISD, plays in the Allen Symphony, and hosts the Allen Folk Music Society.
Judi's love of music and new things has led her to bring ceramic flutes, tin whistles, mountain and hammer dulcimers, and Native American flutes into Twice As Far's repertoire, in addition to her clarinet and vocal harmonies.
